ChromaQuest at the Researchers Night 2025

On the last Friday of September 2025, the University of Latvia ChromaQuest team took part in the annual science festival “Researchers' Night 2025” which allows broaden public awareness, highlight the importance of science as an integral part of everyday life, and stimulate interest in STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, mathematics) education, especially among young people, by emphasizing the importance of scientific research for choosing a future profession.

 

ChromaQuest project also took part in this festival, telling not only adults but also children about the importance of obtaining stable natural pigments from bio-waste.

The audience learned more about methods for obtaining natural pigments, as well as their stabilization and use. They also had the opportunity to see examples of natural pigments in powder and solution form, see examples of natural and synthetic colourings in sweets, also they could sort coloured solutions to obtain a gradient.

 

We were happy to share with interested listeners the positive and negative aspects of natural and synthetic dye uses!
