On 20th of January, 2026, ChromaQuest was represented at the University of Latvia (UL) Foundation doctoral scholarship recipients' report seminar, where Alise Zommere presented the ChromaQuest project alongside her PhD research progress. Alise is a recipient of the Doctoral Scholarship in Exact and Medical Sciences, supported by MikroTik.
Her doctoral research, titled "Application of biorefinery for extraction and stabilisation of plant pigments for sustainable development", focuses on developing sustainable methods to obtain and stabilise natural pigments from food and other industrial side-streams. It addresses limitations of natural colourants, such as low stability, by combining green extraction methods, pigment stabilisation strategies, and techno-economic assessment to support scalability.
The seminar brought together doctoral researchers supported by the UL Foundation and provided a platform to share research progress, exchange ideas, and highlight the societal relevance of ongoing doctoral studies. Alise's presentation showcased how ChromaQuest's research contributes to the development of sustainable, circular-economy-based solutions.
ChromaQuest sincerely thanks the UL Foundation and MikroTik for their support of doctoral research and for promoting excellence in science.
