We are excited to share that ChromaQuest, our natural pigments research project, took part in the Universs@LU 2026 study festival hosted by University of Latvia from 19–21 February 2026 at the LU Academic center in Rīga.
Universs@LU is one of Latvia’s largest student engagement events, designed to bring science, innovation, and creativity closer to students, teachers, and the wider public. Over three days, visitors had the chance to explore interactive exhibits, hands-on activities, and cutting-edge research from across the university, including our work on sustainable colour solutions.
At the festival, the ChromaQuest team showcased the heart of our research: natural pigments and how they can be stabilised and applied in food systems as a sustainable alternative to artificial dyes. Our project aims to identify plant-based pigment sources, develop improved extraction and purification methods, and evaluate how these natural colours behave in real food matrices.
By participating in Universs@LU 2026, we were able to connect with future scientists, curious minds, and fellow innovators , all eager to learn about how nature’s palette can inspire next-generation solutions in food science and industry.
